ROAD TO DUNKIRK 1000 PIECE JIGSAW PUZZLE

The Dunkirk evacuation, code-named Operation Dynamo and the Miracle of Dunkirk, was the evacuation of Allied soldiers during World War II from the beaches and harbour of Dunkirk, in the north of France between 26 May and 4 June 1940. This scene shows the 19th of May 1940, a day of hectic aerial fighting as the greatly outnumbered fighters of the R.A.F. battled to keep the Luftwaffe away from the retreating British Army. By the close of the day, courageous Hurricane pilots had claimed close to 100 enemy aircraft. In this puzzle, Nicolas Trudgian’s brilliantly evocative portrayal of war-torn French countryside in early summer 1940, Flying Officer Max Aitken, flying his Hurricane of 601 Squadron, attacks Ju87 Stukas of StG2 as they attempt to strafe and bomb a British Army column retreating from the Panzer spearheads near Arras.

As with all Gibsons jigsaws, we use 100% recycled puzzle board, FSC paper and work with the best artists from all around the world. The beautifully illustrated pieces are designed to fit perfectly together; in fact, we use the thickest puzzle board on the market. We’ve made some positive changes to our processes, so you can be sure you’re getting the same great puzzles and know that they are kinder to the environment. Not only does the box have a fresh new look, but we’ve used biodegradable clear labels to secure the lid instead of shrink wrap to reduce our plastic waste.

There is a gloss coating on the box for extra protection and the puzzle pieces are stored in a plastic bag that can be recycled by most councils. Because the box is slightly smaller than our previous designs, we need less room to transport our products which reduces our carbon footprint and means you can store your puzzles more easily. We have also popped an artwork poster inside for you to reference whilst you piece together your lovely jigsaw puzzle.
